Where to find companionship care for a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer’s
In this episode of Practical Pointers for People with a loved one with Dementia or Alzheimer's the question was this:
Is there any caregiving help that brings companionship to my mom? She doesn't need nursing care, just someone to spend time with her?
Fantastic question! Here are my suggestions…
With unlimited funds there is always a way – unfortunately not many have unlimited funds. We have to get creative based on where we live, the support we have and the money we have to spend.
We also have to make sure the solutions we come up with will keep our loved one safe, provide positive interactions and adequate care. Safety and care needs will change as the disease progresses so a solution that makes sense now might not be adequate later.
While no one can change the outcome of dementia or Alzheimer's, with the right support you can change the journey.
